I have a growing collection of cookbooks.
It’s getting quite extensive, really (just ask my husband).
I love to read them, study them, and imagine the possibilities that come with the recipes inside them. They also represent the works of some of my culinary heroes.
And today’s post, my friends, pays homage to one of the biggest superstars in my book, Anna Watson Carl of The Yellow Table.
Her story is really inspiring. A private chef and food writer, Carl decided to self-publish her cookbook; she launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund it and went on a 100-day tour, hosting dinner parties and documenting the book creation process on her blog. Her journey really inspires me to move forward in the direction of my dreams, and to make things happen! Nothing is impossible.

The Yellow Table is truly one of my favorite cookbooks. It’s full of healthy and beautiful recipes, all sophisticated and elegant, while still being approachable and simple to make.
One of my favorites (being the girl with a mouth full of sweet teeth) is the flourless chocolate cake with raspberry coulis. It’s rich and delicious, and a total crowd-pleaser. Plus, I could make it, so anyone can!
The recipe is online at The Yellow Table here.
I followed the recipe, but instead used four small springform pans instead of one 8″ pan. They still turned out great – perfect for sharing.
(NOTE: Anna also has this recipe for tomato soup and grilled cheese. I’m not usually a big fan of soup, but this recipe is a KNOCKOUT. Seriously, I rave over it).
Anna, if you’re out there, let’s be friends? I’d love to see the yellow table one day. 🙂
