I am in love with sandwiches.
Not just any old PB&J (although I am a fan of those), but the so-full-they’re-falling-apart, gets-sauce-ALL-over-your-fingers, flavor-and-texture-explosion affairs.
They have endless possibilities and are wonderfully filling for a concept so simple.
This week, I took the opportunity to eat at Paseo, a delicious sandwich shop in Fremont. The Caribbean Roast is their famous sandwich – marinated and slow-roasted pork shoulder with onions and peppers, and as the Chewbacca Mom would say, it was “WORTH.EVERY.PENNY!” We’re talking six-napkin business right here. I deem it a two-thumbs up slash going to eat that for the rest of my life kind of sandwich.
And hey, would you look at that, it just happens to be across the street from my version of Disneyland, Book Larder. Fancy that.
Runner-up #1: Beignets from Dahlia Bakery. NO I didn’t eat the rest of the marscapone with a spoon after I finished the donuts!!! Geez! …..CAN’T STOP WON’T STOP
Runner-up #2: A “chubby” from Monorail Espresso, a hole-in-the-wall coffee shop. This cookie was big, soft, and the perfect sweet (but also deliciously salty) treat. YUM.
…I ate a lot of good things this week.
